Once again we were honored to host visitors from another country, this time Russia! Yesterday, November 30, Doctors Mila Vladimirovna and Marina Dmitriyevna spent the afternoon with us, touring The Hatlen Center, meeting staff and students, and learning about our program and curriculum. They were particularly delighted to learn from our technology staff about all the new accessible applications for the iPod Touch and other Apple products. The two professors are in the U.S. to take a class in visual impairment at San Francisco State University. In addition, Julie Bernas-Pierce, Executive Director of Blind Babies Foundation, is sharing information with them about issues that arise in the birth-to-three population of children with visual impairments. Both women have taught visually impaired people for many years and now teach at Saratov State University, and both are just as passionate about their work as we are. It was a delightful visit, and we hope to continue to share information and stay in touch with Mila and Marina in the future.
